SITTING WITH YOUR THOUGHTS ( The plyth of many social workers/mental health providers).

Standard

Yes!!! Vacation from work.

But what do i do now??

No clients to see. No emails to answer, no phone calls from caseworkers, supervisors parents… no crises.

Working in the field of mental health is not an easy task. You become consumed with assisting others with their journey to wellness. There are days when you become fully overwhelmed and you just want the work day/week to end.

Then comes vacation time and you realize, there will be days with no client’s problem for you to deal with…no crises….here comes the intrusive thoughts…time to deal with your own stuff…dealing with your own challenges. Relationships, expenses, family stuff, need to do’s want to haves…SITTING WITH YOUR OWN THOUGHTS……agh! Back to work….comfortable chaos thats not your own.

  1. This is so true. Now that I am no longer in a steady class room with a set of kids and problems to deal with and dead lines I have plenty of time to deal in my own head about my own life and it is so overwhelming and one big emotional rollercoaster for me.
